CALL FOR PROPOSALS
WORKSHOPS, INSTALLATIONS & MEDIA PERFORMANCES
Send your proposal to festival@atasite.org. See details below. Please include “2011 proposal” in subject field.
- Eligible artists must be based in the Bay Area or have the ability to be in the Bay Area during the festival.
- Submission Deadline for all proposals: June 1, 2011
- Selection committees specific to each proposal will review the submissions in July.
- Artists will be notified of their acceptance by August 31, 2011
- Each selected artist will receive a $100 honorarium.

Workshops
Film and video artists are invited to submit proposals for workshops to be part of the festival schedule.Topics considered will be related to independent film, video and/or media arts. The purpose of these workshops is to provide an opportunity for hands-on exploration and/or problem solving. They can be organized around a core challenge that participants come together to work on or around a tool, platform, or concept. Workshops are scheduled for 120 minutes and should be highly participatory.
Proposals should include:
- The name of the workshop and brief description.
- A statement of goals for the workshop.
- Supporting material with description (jpgs, urls, videos etc)
- List of technical requirements, equipment ans/or materials required for the proposed workshop
- CV and/or artist statement
Live Media Performances
Artists working in any media are invited to submit proposals for live performance-based works that will be part of the Opening Night of the Festival.
Performances should include film, video and/or media arts as the major element. New works and works in progress will be considered. We particularly welcome inventive uses of space and interaction with the audience.
Proposals should include:
- Brief description of the proposed performance, including the duration of the performance, materials, equipment and space required for the project
- CV and/or artist statement
- Supporting material with description (jpgs, urls, videos etc)
Installations
Artists and art collectives working with media art and digital technologies are invited to submit proposals of existing or new projects for ATA’s Window and Screening Room Gallery. (See our space) The installation in the Window will run during the month of October. The installation in the gallery space will be up during the festival’s 2 screening nights (tba).
We will consider installation and media works that are engaging, challenging, and experimental in concept and execution. Applications from individuals, art collectives or collaborations between artists are welcome.
Participant artists will be responsible for installation, materials or other costs associated with the creation of the work. Some materials or equipment may be provided by the festival.
Proposals should include:
- work description indicating preferred space (Window and/or Gallery)
- CV(s) and artist statement
- supporting material with description (jpgs, urls, videos etc)
- list of technical requirements, equipment, materials required for the proposed work
