La Parabolica

Xavi Sala – 2007, 12 min, HD/35mm, Spain

During the broadcast of the Pope’s visit, Vicente’s television is broken. Desperate, he decides to make a homemade parabolic dish.

Xavi Sala was born in Alacant (Spanish State) in 1971. He has a university degree in Communications. He has worked as director and production assistant, screenwriter for cinema and television and advertising creative. He has written screenplays for feature films: "Pura Escapada" (with Generalitat Valenciana financial support), "Forasteros" (with Generalitat de Catalunya financial support), "Bienvenida, María" (Finalist in Julio Alejandro SGAE Competition 2004, and "Viaje de estudios".

He’s written the short film “Basurdea”, Award Best Script in Medina del Campo Film Festival 2003 (Valladolid). Also, he’s worked as screenwriter in tv series and shows : “Periodistas”, “Vidas Paralelas”, “Sabor a ti”, etc. He’s directed the short films “60 años”, “Maleteros”, “Los Padres” and “Hiyab.”

Artists' Television Access is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all-volunteer, artist-run, experimental media arts gallery that has been in operation since 1984. ATA hosts a series of film and video screenings, exhibitions and performances by emerging and established artists and a weekly cable access television program.
